Ninth conference of the European Association of Health Law was held at the Warsaw University, Poland from 18-20 September 2024.
During the closing session of the conference in Warsaw we announced the winners of our two prizes for young scholars in health law.
Both awards recognize outstanding contributions from emerging scholars and we are excited to celebrate their achievements. The prize for the Best Abstract at the Young Scholars Workshop is awarded to Marta Łotoczuk, University of Antwerp, for her abstract titled “Improving medical decision-making within a super-diverse society in light of the right to culturally appropriate healthcare”. The review committee, consisting of board members Prof. Joaquin Cayon De Las Cuevas, Prof. Annagrazia Altavilla, Prof. Magdalena Flatscher-Thöni and Prof. Santa Slokenberga was unanimous in its decision. They commended Marta’s work for being exceptionally well-written and addressing a research topic that is highly relevant to healthcare in Europe, while also applauding the novelty of her approach. She receives a certificate, the 500 Euro prize, and a one-year waiver for our association's membership fee. Additionally, she receives a gratis subscription to the European Journal of Health Law, kindly offered by Brill.
For the Best Poster Award at the conference, we are pleased to announce that this goes to Noémie Dubruel (Université de Toulouse). The committee, consisting of board members Prof. Joaquin Cayon De Las Cuevas, Prof. Magdalena Flatscher-Thöni and Prof. Santa Slokenberga, appreciated the integration between law and other sciences, as well as the clarity and innovative character of the poster presentation titled “Virtual human twins for care: in need of a fundamental rights’ assessment”. Moreover, it captures very well the conference theme. The winner receives a 250 Euro prize, a one-year waiver of the membership fee for our association, and a gratis subscription to the European Journal of Health Law, also generously provided by Brill.
Congratulations to both of them!
